Acequia Madre GWE’s Letter to the Future

The  Acequia Madre GWE Group has been hard at work this fall.

They wrote Thank You letters to President Obama for Saying NO to the Keystone Pipeline.

Now they have written a Letter to the Future:

The Global Warming Express – Hopes for the future

“More people are learning about global warming all the time.”

I am submitting this letter on behalf of 12 elementary school students who are members of The Global Warming Express, a kids’ based think tank on climate change (Lucia, Phoebe, Aiden, Mags, Liliana, Taylor, Tenzin, Asha, Spencer, Hawk, Haley, and Ruby). Here is their letter:

Dear Future Family,

We are trying to stop climate change. President Obama just rejected a big oil pipeline called the Keystone XL. We hope that people will stop making vehicles that run on gas and oil, and use solar-powered electric cars instead.

We know that cows that fart on factory farms add methane to the global warming gases, but that when animals are raised on the land, soil methane bugs will capture the methane instead.

More people are learning about global warming all the time. We have lots of ways to travel that don’t use fossil fuels.

We hope that people can stop climate change in time to save the polar bears.

Sincerely,
Lucia, Phoebe, Aiden, Mags, Liliana, Taylor, Tenzin, Asha, Spencer, Hawk, Haley, and Ruby
